The Mexican Pride Day is celebrated every May 5th. This date commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, which took place in 1862. Although Mexico is remembered and commemorates the Mexican triumph in the conflict,in the United States it is where Cinco de Mayo is celebrated most strongly.Today I propose to review some information about Cinco de Mayo.
The Battle of Puebla
After the War between Mexico and the United States in 1846, Mexico was involved in a civil war and became impoverished in such a way that it had to resort to European economic aid. But unable to pay the debts contracted with the France of Napoleon III, French troops invaded Mexico with the idea of reaching the capital and install a monarchy, but were arrested in the city of Puebla, by the brave Mexican troops.
Porfirio Díaz, the first great Mexican dictator was a hero of the Battle of Puebla
That's right, the young Porfirio Diaz was one of the most prominent soldiers of that event, which began to cement his fame, and led him to a rapid rise in military career before turning to politics. He ruled Mexico on different occasions since 1876, and uninterrupted from 1884 to 1911.
